Generally, tape is used for support and injury prevention, which aids footballers in scenarios such as when falling over, or colliding with opposition.
And tends to become a go to for footballers after sustaining any sort of wrist or hand injury.
But then, they also often turn into a superstition for footballers, and are worn despite there being no injury problems.
Luis Suarez is an example of this, who while playing in the Premier League was told he no longer allowed to wear his good luck ribbon on his wrist.
But then when he fractured a bone in his hand, he was forced to wear tape around his wrist and hand, then realised, he could simply wear his ribbon underneath his tape and no one would know.
So despite recovering from the injury, he continues to wear the tape and ribbon for good luck!
