Football in Brazil is like a religion.
From kids to elders, everybody is in love with the game.
The whole country lives and breathes it, it’s their culture.
Brazilian children learn to play football just about anywhere, on the street, at the beach, as long as they have a ball, they play.
They don’t always have the best conditions, playing barefoot isn't rare and often on rough concrete or sandy terrains.
And so, when you learn to control the ball in tricky circumstances, it becomes much easier when you play on a nice turf with fancy boots on your feet.
You’d be surprised how many school-age children on the streets of Brazil can control the ball better than some European professional footballers.
The popularity of Futsal in Brazil also has a part to play.
It's played in much smaller spaces and requires quicker thinking, good ball control, and faster dribbling skills.
It’s where Ronaldinho learned his craft.
When you’ve mastered all of that, it’s much easier to apply it on a full sized football pitch.
And for the less fortunate kids of Brazil, football is often viewed as their best path of making it out of poverty, providing that extra drive to succeed in the nation's treasured game.
